Best in Guam. Guam . Guam bar, Agana village or previously known as Hagatna is the capital village of Guam island though it is said to be the second smallest village (both in area and in population). Though this village is not the biggest in the island, it remains one of their major commercial districts aside from being the seat of the government since time immemorial.
Agana or Hagatna means blood. The village stands as the life-blood of the Guahan or Guam. Guam governor’s official residence and Guam’s Unicameral Legislature of 15 elected senators are all situated in this village. The governor’s house (Fort Santa Agueda, also known as Fort Apugan or Fort Kasamata) has the best strategic located to view the beautiful Hagatna Bay. There are too many attractions or interesting places that a tourist can check in this village such as remains of Spanish buildings, bridges, buildings and the site which the Seal of Guam was patterned after. This village is also the place of the Dulce Nombre de Maria Basilica, Guam’s museum, and Sagan Dinana ( or the new Charammo Village known also as the Farmer’s market). Not to forget GuamPDN (Pacific Daily News) has been settling in Agana village for more than 40 years now.
